- press release -

With plenty of spectators and a wonderful weather Patrick Viererbe made an exquisite comeback. Silvia Troselj won the 3rd place in Open Ladies - the first cable wakeboard prize for Croatia ever.

Krk, May 3rd - On Cable Krk in Croatia, European cable wakeboard season started with Jamaica Croatia Open, the 1st stop of ECWT 2003. This was the second European competition on cable Krk, after Finals of ECWT in September 2002.

Wakeboarding is rather new to Croatians, but the scene was brilliant - over 1000 spectators in a great mood, 3 TV crews, and highly motivated performance of 43 riders from 8 countries. All day long the weather was just beautiful with the sea temperature over 20°C. Riders were age from 8 to 36, and viewers around 0 to 80.

In Open Ladies won Kinga Horvath from Hungary (second time champion in Krk), and the best Junior was her fellow citizen Mate Tokay. As you all can imagine, the most outstanding show gave The Open Men category. With less than 9 points difference from the champion the 5th was Bulgarian Emil Tzolov. Unlucky 4th (0,85 points to 3rd) was Martijn Nuis and 3 to 1 were Jan Sauer, Bennie Suess and Patrick Viererbe. Patrick was injured in spring 2002 and this was his first appearance after a year pause. When he finished the second run in finals his words were: "This was the run of my life!" The crowd and judges shared his opinion. Croatians went crazy for their heroine Silvia Troselj who came 3rd in Open Ladies, and won the first cable wakeboard prize for Croatia ever. The award giving ceremony was emotional, with big fireworks, and the competition day ended with a traditional after party in Snooker Club, Punat.

Impressions from Croatian newspapers were mostly "great atmosphere…excellent show…attractive young people with remarkable equipment…" And some other articles which were more focused on side effects "…wakeboard competition caused a traffic collapse in the area…"

All in all, everything went smooth, riders and spectators were satisfied, and the rumor has it cable Krk is a candidate for the 1st stop of ECWT 2004. With plenty of spectators and a wonderful weather Patrick Viererbe made an exquisite comeback. Silvia Troselj won the 3rd place in Open Ladies - the first cable wakeboard prize for Croatia ever.

Krk, May 6th - Everybody come back!!! Gee, it's been one busy weekend here, but now, only 3 days after the competition we have a real summertime and almost everybody left! Luckily there are some riders still here so we're not all alone. So, to name few of them, here's Robby Bouvain training with his friend Bernie who took a quick course of Croatian, and our Saturday star Patrick Viererbe decided to hang around for a while and become an old fisherman. I planned to include a photo of Patrick with a fish in this article, but it was toooo big.

Anyway, let's get back to The Big Saturday. I never saw this many people here, I know you guys don't read Croatian newspapers, but their impressions were "great atmosphere…excellent show…attractive young people with remarkable equipment…" And some other articles which were more focused on side effects "…wakeboard competition caused a traffic collapse in the area…" We're very proud of our team, Croatians went crazy for Silvia who won the 3rd place in Open Ladies - the first cable wakeboard prize for Croatia, and Miho was closer to the finals than ever.

In Open Ladies won a charming lady Kinga Horvath from Hungary (second time champion in Krk), and the best Junior was her fellow citizen Mate Tokay. As you all can imagine, the most outstanding show gave The Open Men category. With less than 9 points difference from the champion the 5th was our favorite Bulgarian Emil Tzolov (nice tattoo!). Unlucky 4th (0,85 points to 3rd) was Martijn Nuis (first time here, with Marteen and Erwin – Croatian market ran out of Becks). On our great delight 3 to 1 were our long time favorites – Jan Sauer, Bennie Suess and Patrick Viererbe.

Many thanks to:

- Hans, Stephan and judges for the immense sport event

- Our man Didi and all of our staff for a special day

- All guests for cheering riders, and all riders for a tremendous performance

- Café Cinema for fireworks and Snooker club for THE after party

- Our sponsors and friends for the support

We hope to see all of you here again, keep riding and don't forget to drink Jamaica!

P.S. Yet another spectacular news is that the author of this state-of-the-art review started trainings yesterday, so girls watch out! I'm coming to Hungary in June with some serious bunny hops on repertoire (and a brand new Evolution, does that count?)
