Cable
Krk and Wakeboard club Krk hosted on Saturday in bay of Punat T-Com Croatia
Open - the first stop of the European Cable Wakeboard Tour,
the contest in an attractive board sport , water version of snowboard.
Over fifty riders from Croatia, Slovenia, Germany, Austria, Serbia &
Montenegro, Bulgaria, Hungary, Netherlands, Switzerland and Israel, in
a real summer atmosphere with 30˚C, competed in Junior and Open
categories for titles and tempting prizes provided by the general
sponsor of the event T-Com Croatia.
Thanks to the attractiveness and dynamics of this relatively young
sport, a big audience at Cable Krk cheered their favorites during the
morning qualification rounds and the afternoon finals. Three judges
evaluated the execution, intensity and the composition of the riders'
performance.

from the double Krk champion Patrick Viererbe
(Germany). In Open Ladies category celebrated the Hungarian Kinga Horvath,
and the best Junior was the actual world champion in Boys category Peter Pascal Schmidt (Germany).
Croatia had two ladies in the finals - Silvia Troselj was second, and
Tonja Predovic fifth.
The
competition was closed on Sunday afternoon with the Rope Session
- kicker and slider contest where riders performed all kinds of
impressive tricks over the obstacles. Patrick Viererbe
left no room for surprise this time -
he won with a superb performance.

Even though
Croatia has only two wakeboard and waterski cableways, this was the
fourth international event on Krk, and reactions from riders and
spectators are great. Croatia currently has two wakeboard clubs, Krk
and Paragon, who represented Croatia at this contest with six riders.
Cable Krk
is a modern cableway system, with
hight and dimensions especially designed for
wakeboarding. It is located in the Northern Adriatic, on the islad
krk, in bay of Punat. It is a 5-cornered
cableway with seven carriers, powered by electric motor of 37 kW. It
is 650 meters long, and the usual speed is 30-32 km/h, convenient for
both beginners and experts.
Cable Krk will on September
10 host the second Croatian & Slovenian cable wakeboard championships
- T-Com Cro Board 2005. The announcement and more info soon at
www.wakeboarder.hr/english.
