On Saturday, September 10 2005 Cable Krk will host the second Croatian & Slovenian cable wakeboard Nationals. Last years Cro Board was a real mini spectacle, and many riders trained hard this season so we expect to see a bunch of new hopes on the course. We also expect a big duel Robi vs. Miho. Will Miho keep the last years title of overall winner? Or will Tomo Snooker with a support from his attractive fun club surprise them both? It will sure be interesting, so if you're anywhere near the cable make sure to be here on Saturday at noon.

On Saturday, May 28, Cable Krk hosted the first stop of the European Cable Wakeboard Tour - T-Com Croatia Open 2005. The weather was great, over 30 degrees, water flat, and atmosphere perfect. 52 riders from 10 countries took part. Lior Sofer won in Open Men category, and the double champion from Krk Patrick Viererbe won the second place. The best Junior was German Peter Pascal Schmidt, the actual junior world champion, and in Ladies Open celebrated Kinga Horvath from Hungary. Croatia had two ladies in the finals - Silvia Mama Troselj was second, and Tonja Predovic fifth. After a big Saturday night party, on Sunday afternoon there was a kicker & slider contest - the Rope session. Patrick Viererbe left no room for surprise this time and with a spectacular performance won by far.

Cable Krk will once again host the First Stop of the European Cable Wakeboard Tour 2005 - Croatia Open on Saturday, May 28. It will be the fourth international event at Cable Krk, as usual, we expect to see the performance of both local and European stars. Well, here we are after a while with some breaking news... The cable is open, weather is horrible, anyway, we hang around, eat asparagus, play pool and darts and wait for the weather to get better. Here's also our favorite Ticket movie star - Patrick Viererbe, hanging around with us, catching every moment of a good weather for training.

Talking about our favorite wakeboard stars, here's a gossip I was very eager to publish: Ta da da daaa!!  Ready?  Here it goes: Silvia is a mom!!! She gave birth to a son Sergej on Wednesday, March 23rd in Rijeka. Little guy is doing great, eats, sleeps, and waits for warmer weather to start training with his mother. Way to go Silvia, congrats to you, papa Majk and son Sergej!!

Another news is about the Croatian Waterski Federation. The Fed was founded in 1969, a member of IWSF (International Waterski Federation) from 1992, currently has seven members. More about clubs and activities of the Fed find at  www.wakeboarder.hr/iwsf/eng.

Robert Pokovec Wb club Krk rider  2004  - For those who don't know him, Robi is Slovenian, lives in Ljubljana and is about to graduate from the high school. He started riding back in 2001, and from his first backroll in 2002 he grew into a real rider. He took part at ECWT and Euro Champs 2004, and at the Croatian & Slovenian Nationals in September he became the Slovenian cable wakeboard champion 2004 .

Cheers Robi, you deserved this prestigious title :)

On Saturday, September 11th, Cable Krk hosted the first Croatian & Slovenian cable wakeboard Championships. Twenty riders took part, and about five hundred fans cheered their favorites. Slovenian Rok Rogelj won in Juniors, and the best Croatian junior was Lovro Klepac, who took the second place. The best in Open was Croatian Mihovil Brebric, and the best Slovenian was second - Robert Pokovec. Cable Krk will host it's fifth international event in May 2005, but that's another story, more on that end of the month...

On Saturday, September 11th Cable Krk will host the first Croatian & Slovenian cable wakeboard national championships. Riders took it seriously, they train around the clock, and we're particularly proud to announce our great juniors. Being a young wakeboarding community, we restricted the entry to Croatians and Slovenians only to encourage locals to take part. We invite you to visit us on Saturday to cheer our riders and of course join us at the after party in Snooker club.

The biggest event of the season indeed, although it wasn't Croatian nor Slovenian day. Croatian representatives were Mihovil Brebric who made it to the semifinals in Open Men, and Tonja Predovic in Open Ladies. Tonja and Robert Pokovec (he represented Slovenia in Junior Men) also couldn't find their way to the finals, they both fell in LCQ. Never mind, the weather was great, organization too, and I particularly liked the big screen at the comp where all runs and slow motions of the attractive tricks and falls were presented. There was a bunch of tents around the lake for leisure activities, and the prize giving was held at the really impressive stage where the Saturday party followed with an Austrian hip-hop band and around 6000 guests.

The biggest event for us locals follows - The first Croatian and Slovenian national championships on Saturday, September 11th at Cable Krk.

Really big finals of the European Cable Wakeboard Tour! Over 70 riders took part, and Wakeboard club Krk was represented only by Robert Pokovec who won the 8th place in Juniors (28 riders - almost as tough as Open). Junior winner was Peter Pascal Schmidt, this season he grew up from a Boy to Junior and he knows how to ride, that's for sure. Denise de Haan from Netherlands won in the Open Ladies, and in Open Men celebrated the actual world champion, Bernhard Hinterberger (the man made for a wild card a biiiiig double S blind just like that). Sport develops at fast pace, double S becomes a standard for Juniors to enter the finals, rotations over obstacles keep getting harder to count, so the judges had a very difficult task, too. Our Silvia unfortunately didn't ride for medical reasons, but being second and third at the previous Tour stops, she still won the 3rd place in the Tour overall.

The most important comp of the season follows - Euro Champs in Feldkirchen, Austria, August 5th to 8th. Croatia will be represented by Tonja Predovic (Open) from Wakeboard club Krk, and Mihovil Brebric (Open) from Wakeboard club Paragon. Robert Pokovec (Juniors), a member of Wakeboard club Krk, will ride under Slovenian flag.

The latest prize game "Send us pics" ended with a smooth victory of a cute Sharky who won a weekly ticket at Cable Krk. Second prize and three daily tickets went to the tired suntanned Mato, and third prize and a daily ticket went to Borut for the sole original action photo in the first three. Check out the pics...

It was one really dynamic and interesting weekend. Croatian representative in Open Ladies, Silvia Troselj, won the excellent third place. Robert Pokovec made it to the finals and after courageous try of double S-bend in the first run ended up sixth.

The fourth and the final stop of ECWT follows on July, 24th in Leipzig, Germany.  Croatians are going to take part, and we hope our team will once more provide impressions and pics from the event.

Our team was at the second stop of ECWT (European Cable Wakeboard Tour) in Milan. After numerous problems at the location, riders in Open category didn't take part at the finals, so Robert Pokovec was our only successful representative with the third place in Juniors.

May was by all means interesting and meaningful. I know it took me forever to publish the news and pics, there's not many of us in charge around here, and I'm also the only web editor for the time being, so I hope you'll forgive me this time...

Marina Punat Croatia Open was the third international cable wakeboard comp at Cable Krk. This time we managed to bring the event to a higher level - the most important news for riders were kicker & slider. We also set the press center and the office near the cable, and the restaurant terrace was a reserved VIP lounge for riders, VIP guests and organizers. 54 riders took part in three categories - Open Men, Open Ladies and Juniors. Hotel Kanajt in Punat hosted  the annual Judges and Officials Seminar from May 21 to 23, organized by EAME Cable Wakeboard Council. 16 people from 8 countries took part.

Camp was a complete success! Instructors - the actual world champion in waterskiing for disabled, Christophe Fasel, and the president of the European Disabled Council, Philippe Turchet, introduced  the basics of sport to beginners, and few experienced riders were training along with them. To make sure that the waterskiing for disabled will grow to be a part of the daily routine, Cable Krk acquired the equipment and prepared three instructors to work with disabled in the future. We all had a great time, and the camp concluded on Saturday, May 15 with a friendly competition - The first stop of Euro Cable Tour for Disabled.

The weather in April wasn't perfect, but people are riding for a while now at Krk. Robert Pokovec came from the winter trampoline trainings in perfect shape and with a great style, Tonja and Sale will make a back roll any minute now, and Marinko works on height of his tricks. Silvia began training a bit later, so far she gets back to shape.

For the first time in Croatia, Cable Krk will host a camp for disabled from May 10 to May 14, where the participants from Croatia and abroad will have a chance to learn the basics of sport. Camp will be conducted by actual world champion in waterskiing for disabled, Christophe Fasel from Switzerland, and the president of European Disabled Council Philippe Turchet. In conclusion, on Saturday, May 15, the first stop of Euro Tour for disabled will be held. We point out that taking part at the camp is free of charge, and includes morning trainings exclusively for camp attendants, all day riding at the cable and everyday video analysis over dinner. At last an invitation is available for all who want to join the forthcoming cable wakeboard judges and officials seminar at Krk. Seminar will take place on May 20-23 at hotel Kanajt in Punat, with a break on May 22 so the riders that'll participate at the Croatia Open can also take part.
